The Recipe of our Shoe
A genuine goodyear welted construction.
This is the best way to build a long-lasting pair of shoes. The first stitch attaches the upper & lining to the insole. The inside is filled with cork that adapts to the shape of your footbed in use. The second stitch attaches the outsole. As opposed to the usual shoe manufacturing, Saint Vacant shoes have rubber half-soles attached on top of the sole stitch. This makes repairing simple and easy to do without breaking the stitching on the outsole.
A premium insole is the most important element of a good shoe, almost like the soul of the shoe. Full-length leather insole forms in use to fit the foot perfectly. It also perfects the walking experience by absorbing moisture and letting the shoe breathe.
The asymmetrical opening on half shoes.
The higher inner side of the mouth of the shoe offers more support, while the lowered outer side offers more comfort. When the shoe fits the ankle better, it feels better walking.
The padded feature and eye-catching color of the insock make walking more fun. The insock can be replaced with a new one when it gets worn out, or if you need to add a little more color in your life. We made the insock intentionally shorter - covering only the heel. Because that is the area where shock absortion is mostly needed. Also we wanted to show you that the insole underneath is made of real leather all the way. You can order a new pair straight from Saint Vacant.
When the balance between the heel and the ball of the foot is right, the shoe rests smoothly and evenly against a surface. This is achieved by using a correct size heel that is pre-shaped at an angle to fit the sole perfectly.
When the shoe’s tip stays above the ground, every step rolls and flows effortlessly and leaves less wrinkles on the folding part of the shoe.
Makings of quality
Bringing bespoke technique into a factory-made shoe category is setting a new standard on quality. Artisan footwear is never average, never out of style, and with playful features never stops surprising. Saint Vacant products come in batches, instead of seasons. From a range consisting of only five essential models – the only five a man needs.
The shoes are made in peace and with patience during slow factory days, as opposed to the rush and chaos of the fashion seasons. When shoes are made in small batches, the process becomes like a bespoke experience. You have a chance to influence on the colors and materials used, and walking becomes a truly unique affair.
